Fresh Fall Foods
Spice up the new season with flavor
pumpkin pie, pumpkin empanadas and pumpkin scones. This fall fruit is enriched with vitamin C, vitamin A and folate. Pumpkin has antioxidants and iron and can help with growth, cell and fetal development. There are many healthy recipes you can make yourself during this autumn season with pumpkin. Not only can you use pumpkin as a delicious ingredient, but it can be used as a facemask as well. Since pumpkin is enriched with many dietary health benefits, it also benefits the skin.
Squash, which is related to the pumpkin, also has an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium and fiber. Since squash has potassium and fiber, it is a great aid for improved blood pressure, performance of the muscles and digestion. Squash can be eaten by itself or added to soup, salad and many more food dishes.
Nothing says fall like a good sweet potato casserole. The sweet potato is enriched with vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B-6 and copper. Vitamin B-6 is helpful with brain functioning and mood regulations. Copper is an aid to maintaining red blood cells and the health for bones in our bodies. Sweet potatoes can be eaten alone, as a replacement for a French fry, casserole or soup. Sweet potatoes can also be an excellent ingredient to a healthier brownie recipe.
Apples are another fall food that is enriched with vitamin C, fiber and potassium. Apples can be a great snack anytime and an excellent ingredient to any healthy dessert. Pinterest has endless healthy recipes with apples that look mouthwatering.
These are not the only fall foods; HealthCentral has listed many more items like: beets, clementines, pears and pomegranates. These seasonal foods have numerous benefits that can add a rich or unique taste to your fall recipes. Not only are these foods tasty, but they have great nutritional value as well. So, as we embrace the fall, make sure to embrace the flavor it brings too.
